I couldn't have completed the course without the full support of my tutors. I'm now fully equipped with what it takes to succeed at the university level - Olawole Omogbemi
A friend of mine introduced DistanceLearningCentre.com when I had a chat with him about going back to studying.
Having been out of school for long, I wasn't sure if I wanted to study a course entirely based online. I was sceptical; so, I went on their website and read some of the student reviews and I was encouraged to enrol. I realised my perception was wrong when I started the course.
Although, it wasn't very easy being a parent and working full time. Also, during my time on the course, I had a baby, moved home and the toughest part was losing a close friend. But through it all, I was able to complete the course with the support from my family and my tutors.
At the end, I achieved the required grades and I'm now holding an offer from the University of East London to study medical physiology.
Thanks to all my Tutors and DistanceLearningCentre.com for your support. I couldn't have completed the course without the full support of my tutors. I'm now fully equipped with what it takes to succeed at the university level. DistanceLearningCentre.com is one of the best educational institutions in the UK and I won't hesitate to recommend it to people. (June 2022)
My tutors were all so, so helpful and towards the end of my course I began receiving Distinctions in all of my work, I couldn't believe it! - Rachel Solen
I'm sure I'm not alone in the sense that the pandemic made me reconsider my career choices. After 10 years in the corporate events industry (with no qualifications other than GCSEs) I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. The company I worked for had to close down for 4 months during the first lockdown and I began to worry what else I'd do if the events industry never returned to what it was. I was on maternity leave luckily, but unsure if there would b e a company let alone a position for me on my return, so I began to research my options. I'd always dreamed of training as an Architect but the 7 years at university seemed like a pipe dream, then along came DistanceLearningCentre.com!
I felt like my introductory unit tutor spent the time getting to know me and my personal circumstances. He reassured me that firstly, I wasn't alone and that there were lots of other mums who were navigating career changes too, and secondly and most importantly, I could do this! The enormity of studying, writing essays and taking exams quickly subsided and I set out with a confidence boost and began my work. During the first stages of the qualification, I discovered that Architectural Technology would be a better fit for me, I learned about the process of applying to university and even drafted a personal statement so that when the time came, I'd be able to use this for my application. Each tutor that I was allocated throughout my course was super helpful and supportive and gave really detailed and constructive feedback on my work, which I was able to take on board and see my grades improve with each unit. My tutors were all so, so helpful and towards the end of my course I began receiving Distinctions in all of my work, I couldn't believe it!
Fast forward 11 months, a few long evenings, 2 exams, 5 modules completed, a return to work, a baby, a toddler, a few months home-schooling and the end of a pandemic later and I've met the conditions of my offer, handed my notice in and I'm ready for University and I can't wait. Anyone who is doubting themselves please don't, you can do it! (June 2022)
It's never too late to change career, and never think you can't do it or you're not good enough - Chris Rose
It was in my second year at college that I realised the computing BND I was studying for was not the right course for me, I knew I didn't want to take that career pathway. However, I had to be determined and stick it out for the qualification. I thought I had missed the chance to go to university as I was unsure what I was passionate about, so I never applied; I didn't know what my vocation was. Fast forward many years, I unsuccessfully found a career in many different jobs. I signed up to the British Army, working in logistics; a trade that I was good at however never felt the passion for.
During a PT session I suffered a spinal injury and after a long time of rehabilitation, I had a relapse. Looking into the possibility of surgery, I found the fascinating role of Operating Department Practitioner (ODP). The perioperative process has similarities to the phases of movements. However, it felt special to me as a fundamental requirement of an ODP was to ensure the patients were supported and cared through their perioperative journey of anaesthesia, surgery and post anaesthetic recovery. I knew this is what I wanted to do, this is what I cared about, this is my vocation. How do I get there though? It had been nearly 17 years since I left college, and I was fearful of learning again academically, especially in writing essays. This is the opposite of what I do in my military career.
Speaking to a colleague about my desire for a new career, I was informed about DistanceLearningCentre.com and I learned about access to HE courses. This was my path to university. I was so excited and so I took the plunge and enrolled into an Access to HE Diploma in Allied Health Professions with help from my military Enhanced Learning Credits. I was truly surprised at the level of support that was offered to me. There was a whole section of preparing to progress to university, as well as an amazing development phase that allowed me to feel comfortable with academic writing and it took all my fears away. It was then, I realised I could do this. This was teaching excellence at its finest. I felt motivated and confident I could get the best out myself. My tutors were so supportive throughout the journey, always there when I needed them and so quickly too, always responding to emails by the end of the day. I found the feedback they gave was constructive and informative. I could study in my own time and never felt pressured to complete assessments by deadlines, an extension was always granted. The experience has been life changing and the knowledge and skills that I've learned places me in an excellent position for preparing to study further education at university.
I can't thank DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutors enough for enabling me to reach my potential with all their guidance, help and support. I am so impressed that I have spread the word to my work colleagues, with some of them starting their DistanceLearningCentre.com journey. It's never too late to change career, and never think you can't do it or you're not good enough, studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com will show you that you can achieve what you set out for. My tutor was extremely supportive and understanding with this and appropriate support and guidance was offered when this needed - Charlotte Middis
Having worked in Social Services in administrative roles for several years, I decided I wanted to take the step to study to become a Social Worker, however, I did not have the grades required or UCAS points needed to be able to apply straight to university. Being a mature student, I was unsure on my options in terms of what I could do to meet the requirements whilst working this around a full-time job.
I had heard of Access to Higher Education courses through friends and colleagues but when looking at options to study these courses at my local colleges, they all required attendance at the college for a minimum of 2 days per week, which was not suitable for me due to full-time employment. I was unable to reduce to part-time due to also living independently and needing my full-time wage to support myself. I then began searching for distance learning courses and this is when I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com.
My tutor was available to support with queries I had, responded to queries quickly, and my assessments were marked in good time as well. Feedback was always constructive which I found beneficial in terms of helping me to improve and develop in future assignments. Course materials and assessment guidance are very well structured which made learning independently and in my own time much easier to do.
As a student who also suffers with mental health problems including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and PTSD, I was extremely apprehensive about studying and had concerns regarding whether I would be able to complete this course. Despite always being highly academic, I was concerned that my mental health would affect my performance. My tutor was extremely supportive and understanding with this and appropriate support and guidance was offered when this needed, which enabled me to continue studying and successfully complete my course.
I was supported with my UCAS application, my tutor checked my UCAS personal statement and offered feedback on this, and also provided me with an educational reference. I was successful in interviews for both of my chosen universities and received conditional offers at both. Thanks to Distancelearningcentre.com and my tutor, I have successfully completed my course in the timeframe that I set for myself, have achieved distinctions in every assignment, and met the requirements for university. I am due to start University to complete my BSC Honours Social Work degree in September 2022 and can now work towards my dream of being a Social Worker. This course has also given me the confidence to start university knowing that I can study independently and have been supported to develop my skills in essay-writing, Harvard referencing, and academic studying. I found the course very helpful and my tutor was there when I needed help - Alan Marriage
I am an Autistic/Asperger's person, who wants to be an architect. I was told about DistanceLearningCentre.com online, as I felt I could not go to a Uni without support. I found courses in Construction, English and Maths, which I was told I needed. I started all three of them, but found it difficult to do them all at once. I was advised to concentrate on one and the others would be held.
So, I decided on constructions with my tutor. I found the course very helpful and my tutor was there when I needed help. I worked one day a week at an architect's, so I was understanding a bit of what was going on there, through the course. As I got further in the course, my tutor stopped and my new tutor carried on to do their side. I enjoyed their course as well, but more so of the drawings side. As I progressed it was starting to get a bit harder towards the business end. I achieved good grades with them both, and enjoyed their help. I am now on another course for drawing plans at the moment as I feel this is what I want to do. Be a draughtsman. (June 2022)
Truth be told, all this couldn't have been possible without this amazing online course by DistanceLearningCentre.com - Alicia Atherton
I am forever grateful to the entire DistanceLearningCentre.com staff, the easy-to-follow materials provided on the website, and the support I was fully given by my tutors during the most difficult times of my life either through emails, phone calls, and even texts.
Earlier this year I lost my dear mom while expecting and going through the toughest pregnancy ever. Not allowed to travel, I had a child during Covid and invited my mom to visit, but her visa was denied, then she fell ill at the end of 2021 and died earlier this year while I was expecting.
It felt like my entire world was crashing, I lost concentration when I tried to study, nothing sunk in at all. I was on the verge of giving up on my DistanceLearningCentre.com course but the amazing support I got was beyond my expectations. Tutors were always prompt to reply and helped me emotionally but most of all they never gave up on helping me understand what the modules required of me. I was then bed bound and not even allowed to work or even drive due to the risks of the pregnancy.
I finished my modules and submitted them the night before my baby was born. I sat there until 4 in the morning. After, my little one was born via active c-section. Truth be told, all this couldn't have been possible without this amazing online course by DistanceLearningCentre.com including my heroes (tutors).
For sure, I highly recommend this online school it's 5* (June 2022)
I have been really impressed by DistanceLearningCentre.com's commitment to providing the best student experience possible - Francesca Olive
When the pandemic hit, I was a mum of a two under two, suffering from postnatal anxiety and feeling extremely isolated. I had toyed with the idea of becoming a midwife before but there seemed to be too many hurdles in my way, particularly when recurring lockdowns meant everything came grinding to a halt. As I had spent my youth as a young carer, my GCSE’s and A-Level grades were nowhere near what was required. I also didn’t have the experience needed to make any application stand out in what is an extremely competitive field. But I had a visceral feeling that midwifery was the right path for me, so when my nearest University suggested that I take the Access to Higher Education in Nursing and Midwifery course from DistanceLearning Centre.com, I was really thrown a lifeline. As this was online learning, I felt reassured that I would be able to continue studying no matter what the pandemic threw at us.
I took a leap of faith and began my access course in March 2021, alongside separately studying for a GCSE in Human Biology, aiming to have it completed within one year. I loved the flexibility of the course and the fact that I could work at my own pace during the kids nap times and in the evenings. In the past I had really struggled in exam-style conditions so the predominantly essay-based assessment style was perfect for me. I found the course content fascinating and relevant to my chosen field. This foundational knowledge really helped me during my university interviews.
I felt supported the entire way, from the very initial call that I had with my first tutor, to the final email from my last. It was after some prompting from my tutor to increase my experience that I began volunteering with a local perinatal mental health charity, something that has profoundly changed my life both professionally and personally. When I found myself having moments of self-doubt, my tutor was always there to remind me of my true ability. Despite being online learning, I felt a great sense of community within the Facebook group for students and I was lucky enough to be a member of DistanceLearning Centre.com’s Student Action Group. I have been really impressed by DistanceLearning Centre.com's commitment to providing the best student experience possible, and it was great to be a part of that process.
With the support of my tutors and other students, I completed the course within the year and achieved more than the grades I needed to apply for university. I am due to begin my Midwifery degree at my first-choice university next month. Huge thanks to DistanceLearning Centre.com. (June 2022)
There is no passion to be found playing small and settling for life that is less than the one you're capable of living. DistanceLearningCentre.com helped me to go 'BIG' and achieve my goals - Corey Smith
Before I started this course, I had no self-confidence at all in my abilities to even pass the course let alone get into university, as I left school without a single GCSE to my name. I had been a pharmacy dispenser for nearly 5 years in a career I grew to dislike a lot and where progression wasn't possible for me. Moreover, I got tired of endlessly drifting through life procrastinating and feeling like I wasn't good or smart enough to ever succeed at anything, as well as looking after my kids as a young dad which further added to my doubts that I wouldn't be able to achieve my goals. I evaluated my current situation and decided to take my own progression into my own hands, concluding that if I didn't take the steps towards my goal of being a Nurse, I'd live in regret for the rest of my life for not even attempting, and remain at a job where I had no joy in what I was doing, along with no opportunities of progression. There was nothing scarier in this world than that to me.
DistanceLearningCentre.com had everything I needed to achieve this goal, an access course to Nursing equivalent to 3 A levels, plus Maths and English. Additionally, what I didn't realise is that it wasn't just the qualifications I'd be gaining from the DistanceLearningCentre.com. I developed the essential skills not just for the course but for university from the very start of the course as I learned how to use punctuation, grammar, and how to structure paragraphs effectively to be able to write essays and reports. Additionally, the developmental units aided me to write an amazing personal statement.
Now that I have fully completed this course with my tutor completing a beautiful reference for me (for university) and achieving distinctions in all my graded units, passing both English and maths, along with gaining a place at university for adult nursing, I have developed into a completely different person that I can honestly say that I am proud of. Furthermore, I have now got the confidence in myself to achieve my goals and find my head in books most of the time fascinated with biology and psychology wanting to learn more as well as just reading in general. I learned a great deal of information regarding mental health in the psychology units and it facilitated me to better understand my mum's mental health condition (schizophrenia). Lastly, In the last year of working independently with no one to rely on but myself to research, study, and revise, I have become a stronger person learning how to overcome obstacles and developing the necessary skills to achieve my goals.
Overall, this course as well as the support and the aid I received off my tutors is the reason I was able to succeed and become the person I am today. (June 2022)
DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me huge support and confidence to achieve my goals - Meie Deng
As a mature student already in my 40s without any UK secondary and high school education experience, deciding to undertake an HE Diploma in Health Science as a stepping stone to an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy was difficult. DistanceLearningCentre.com, a leading online college for access to UK universities, was one of the colleges recommended by the university I wanted to apply. Choosing DistanceLearningCentre.com is because it fulfils all my needs.
DistanceLearningCentre.com allows me to start my course immediately with easy registration. Also, it's very flexible, which is very important to me as I work four days a week with varying shifts and need to take care of my family, including a boy and my in-laws, who are in their 80s.
The website is easy to navigate and contains many useful links, resources and information. The study materials are written in great detail and easy to understand, perfect for someone like me who is not native English.
The tutors were incredibly supportive, friendly and reliable, especially my biology tutor. Without any experience of British high school education, I was extremely worried and stressed at the beginning of the course. I don't have any experience of writing assessments, so I have a lot of questions. But my biology tutor was very responsive, patiently explained all my questions and gave me a lot of helpful resources.
Because my first language is Chinese, I have language barriers in reading and writing. I made some spelling and grammar mistakes on my first ungraded assessment. But my tutor gave me very detailed feedback and fantastic advice on how I can improve, which was very helpful during the course. Also, she always motivated me. That gave me huge confidence. And I became more independent with my studies. Without the support and encouragement of my tutors, I don't think I could complete the course and achieve my goals - I've achieved 45 distinctions, exceeding the requirements of the university of my choice.
In addition, DistanceLearningCentre.com provided me with excellent UCAS support. The tutors helped me every step of the way and provided a detailed reference. Their advice and tips also help me perform very well in interviews. Now, I have a place at the university of my choice.
Thank you so much DistanceLearningCentre.com and all the tutors and staffs. (June 2022)
I discovered a passion for studying thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com - Paul Dean-Lewis
'Studying is not for me' - at least that was what I told myself when I left secondary school with a very mediocre set of GCSE results and leapt into an airline apprenticeship. Fast forward thirty something years - the airline industry was on it's knees as a result of the Covid pandemic and opting for voluntary redundancy seemed the wisest option. I already had a part time role working as a Healthcare Assistant so it seemed sensible to take on a permanent role there. Working with amazing nurses inspired me to progress and I quickly found myself researching how to become a nurse myself. I dusted off my GCSE certificate only to discover the results really were as bad as I recalled and decided to embark on Functional Skills in Maths and English with DistanceLearningCentre.com. Both were rapidly completed and I discovered (much to my disbelief) that I had actually enjoyed the study and so immediately signed up for an Access to HE in Nursing and Midwifery.
The Access to HE course was exceptionally well put together and ideal for students of all ages. I learnt foundation skills in academic writing which was a steep but necessary learning curve and quickly found myself savouring the content and relevance of each chapter of the course. The learning materials are well written and easy to follow, whilst at the same time encouraging you to embark on further individual research to consolidate your learning and obtain the highest grades. The tutors were exceptional - despite this being a remote learning environment, they are always just an email or phone call away to explain, reword or simply give a little technical advice. My confidence grew as I began to receive positive affirmation from the tutors and I found I was relishing each task with passion as a result of the encouragement I received.
I recently completed the Access course and am proud to be attending university this Autumn to study a degree in Adult Nursing, something I truly never believed to be possible. DistanceLearningCentre.com helped me to grow and realise my true potential and for that I will be eternally grateful.
Throughout my studies I recommended DistanceLearningCentre.com and their wide range of courses to other prospective students. It was originally through recommendation by a Student Paramedic that I found DistanceLearningCentre.com and his positive reports were totally accurate. So if you are thinking of developing yourself academically or maybe changing career direction completely like I did, I cannot rate them highly enough. The flexibility that distance learning allows is unique and the support is first class. The course has many challenges, but these allow you to develop as learner and I personally feel I have travelled a huge distance as a student as a result of my experience with DistanceLearningCentre.com.
Maybe you, like me, will find that studying is for you after all! (June 2022)
