I started the Access to Nursing and Midwifery course with DistanceLearningCentre.com at the age of 17. I had just completed my GCSEs a year later than my peers, after missing a year of school due to hospitalisation for my health. I had been out of full-time education for the past 4 years and felt detached from learning and the education system, despite everyone my age having their lives revolve around school. I knew I didn’t want to return to school, but also knew I wanted go to university to pursue a degree in Mental Health Nursing. The DistanceLearningCentre.com course was perfect for me – it allowed me to remain an independent learner, have a flexible education, and gain the necessary qualification for university.

Upon starting the course, I had great communication with the staff, who answered all my queries swiftly. My tutor was amazing – so supportive, understanding and really helpful. I loved the balance of independence and freedom I had as well as the support from tutors and the DistanceLearningCentre.com community. The UCAS application process was really smooth - I am so grateful that this course allowed me to apply to university last year. I got offers from 5 universities, and I am really excited to be going on to study at King’s College London in September.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma has been the exact fit for me, and I feel it has really prepared me for university. I can’t wait for the next steps and thank all those at DistanceLearningCentre.com for supporting me to this point!

I completed the Access to HE Diploma in Medicine course during a difficult period for me. I had to leave university due to a neurological spinal condition which left me bed bound, and was feeling scared and hopeless. I have always wanted to study medicine, but never had the self-belief. The course introduced me to fascinating biomedical, chemistry and physics material that I never believed was ‘for me’. I loved every second of it.

The course material was so accessible, I could read material in bed, at an appointment, even on holiday. I covered my house in notes and bought every textbook going… I discovered a passion and drive for learning again. My tutor was fantastic and a source of constant support and inspiration. She never let me doubt myself and I got the distinction I was hoping for! Now I can apply to medicine once I have surgery! The course provided me with hope, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

This experience has given me the confidence and momentum in fulfilling my dream of becoming a paramedic - Nick Bushrod

When I was younger, I did not have the opportunity to attend university, having left school early due to challenges related to being neurodiverse in an education system that was not yet equipped to help me. Nearly four decades later, I seized an opportunity to take a significant tangent in my life to pursue a dream career as a Paramedic for the NHS.

After extensive research, I chose the Paramedic BSc course at the University of Brighton and began looking for providers of the higher education diploma course recommended by their admissions team, in order to meet the tough entrance requirements. In my investigation of online course providers one name kept cropping up, receiving consistently high praise in online reviews, and that was DistanceLearningCentre.com, and it certainly lived up to its reputation.

Signing up was straightforward, and the quality and breadth of the online content immediately gave me confidence to embark on this new educational path. Despite initial nerves about tackling unfamiliar subjects and a lack of experience in academic writing, the library of online content and support from my tutors was exceptional. At every stage my tutors were always available to ensure I understood expectations and without fail responded comprehensively to all my questions. The course materials were well-structured, highly informative and included signposts to valuable resources that augmented my learning.

The various assignments were accompanied by well thought-out podcasts and guidance that helped my understanding of the criteria necessary to obtain high marks. In the end, I achieved distinctions in all my modules, and while the work was definitely demanding, the process of learning was incredibly enjoyable. Another aspect, that was totally unexpected, was the large online community which created a sense of belonging to a cohort, all with our individual goals.

I have nothing but praise for the course, which not only helped me meet the entrance requirements for my forthcoming degree but also provided a solid foundation for my future studies. This experience has given me the confidence and momentum in fulfilling my dream of becoming a paramedic.

I learnt more about biology, psychology and writing academically then I could ever imagine. - Matthew Campbell

I left the British Army in Sep 2022 after 16 years of service. During my career I deployed on various operations, but none of them gave me more pride and satisfaction then when I was assigned to be the section commander of a team of soldiers on a deployment to Wales. Here our task was to reinforce the Welsh ambulance service due to the high demand of Covid-19 cases, and it was during this operation that I decided I wanted to become a Registered Nurse for the NHS. DistanceLearningCentre.com was recommended to me by many ex-army personnel, so I decided that I would take on the course and put everything into completing it and meeting the UCAS requirement for university. This was no easy feat, I worked 9-7 as a healthcare assistant when I left the army and had to support three children, I would do coursework at night and go to work in the morning, I was tired and stressed all the time but I wanted this more than anything and thankfully the course itself was fantastic, the tutors were very helpful and patient, and I learnt more about biology, psychology and writing academically then I could ever imagine. Now I have finished the course with the vast majority being distinctions, I have been selected to begin studying at Oxford Brookes university in September. I cannot wait to become a nurse. I recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to everyone who has recently left the forces as not only does it give you the opportunity to develop yourself academically but also as a person. Many thanks for all of the support from my tutors and from the staff, it has been a pleasure.

Tutor support made my DistanceLearningCentre.com journey easier - Christine Coleman

I am so proud to have worked really hard to achieve my  Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health & Social Care and have thoroughly enjoyed the course.

Embarking on this journey as part of my CPD at the age of 58 years with a full time job, family life and caring for my elderly dad and also experiencing bereavement has been quite challenging but very rewarding. The course has enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge through research for my role as Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer for Health and Social Care NVQs.

Not having done any intense study for a while was daunting especially the research part, but having a supportive family and a good tutor who encouraged and guided me right from the start I was able to achieve my qualification. I am much more analytical now and can relate better to health and social care issues that we encounter in our everyday life through the topics covered and achieved.

The structured platforms, ILPs and Self-Assessments to prepare you, and course materials including the Podcasts and importantly Tutor support made my DistanceLearningCentre.com journey easier. I found that although living on a very small island with IT challenges and sometimes limited resources my Tutor was very supportive in helping me to overcome this.  I would like to thank and strongly recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com as the platform for good post-school learners learning, inspired to learn more with the desire to achieve once you get started.

I am so proud to have completed the Access to Higher Education Diploma for the Built Environment with DistanceLearningCentre.com. Going back to school after leaving at 16 was tough, but it turned out to be incredibly rewarding. This diploma is more than just an academic achievement; it proves that no matter what your situation is, you can always pursue your goal if you put in the time and hard work.

The tutors and course materials were fantastic and helped me every step of the way. They made sure I understood everything about the built environment. However, this wasn’t an easy road for me but the tutors were very understanding of my circumstances. So being nominated for the DistanceLearningCentre.com Award of Achievement means a lot to me. It’s amazing to have my hard work recognised and to know that my tutors think I deserve this honor.

This diploma has opened up new opportunities for me and given me the confidence to move forward in the construction industry. I am truly thankful for this experience, all the support from DistanceLearningCentre.com, and a special thanks to my tutor.

I have had amazing inspirational tutors who guided, advised, helped and were there constantly throughout, enabling me to achieve full Distinctions - Alexandra Gruar

After battling Anorexia Nervosa, multiple physical health conditions and my mental health for many years as a professional dancer, I left intensive eating disorder treatment and desperate to finally do the Psychology degree I have always dreamed of, however I truly didn't believe this was possible for me. Going to university seemed worlds away, and I felt so unprepared, but I discovered 'DistanceLearningCentre.com' and signed up for the Access to HE Diploma in Social Science, and DLC have been absolutely incredible and helped me so much. I have had amazing inspirational tutors who guided, advised, helped and were there constantly throughout, enabling me to achieve full Distinctions in just over five months after being out of full time education for 15 years. Being able to work at my own pace and set my own deadlines was perfect for me, allowing me to attend my hospital appointments, continue my recovery journey, teach dance and look after my very needy puppy at the same time! My tutors also helped me prepare my university application, re-reading my personal statement many times and providing an extra academic reference when required. I received 5 university offers, including my dream university, King's College London, that I will be attending in September to study Psychology. I am in complete shock and over the moon!

I cannot thank my tutors enough for everything they have done to support me and their patience during my often very rambled panicked emails about assignments, I wouldn't have achieved this without their guidance and compassion. DistanceLearningCentre.com has truly been exceptional and I am so grateful! To the girl who was very unwell in the depths of anorexia, unsure if she'd ever be able to do anything, to having a place at my dream university and a diploma with full distinctions. Anything is possible with determination and the right support.

I've secured a place at university to finally fulfill my dreams to become a Paramedic. - Victoria Howarth

Studying in your 40's is a challenge and DistanceLearningCentre.com have been amazing. My last tutor was incredibly supportive and I've secured a place at university to finally fulfill my dreams to become a Paramedic. The course contents are jam packed with everything you need to study, produce the work and grow as a person. Thank you for being there every step of the way.

I knew it would be a challenge to take on this additional work, to study for a career I’ve wanted to be apart of since being in my 20’s. ( I’m 48 years old) I dedicated my time to my children as I’ve been a single parent for over a decade and unfortunately do not receive any support from the other parent.

During my time with DistanceLearningCentre.com I have achieved things I never thought would be possible for me. My confidence in myself has always been a challenge as I’ve battled through domestic abuse from my ex partner who made every step of my journey as a student as hard as he could make it. I kept telling myself, “You can do this, keep going, this is your passion!” I was told by my ex partner that it was ridiculous to be a student and to get a job!! This coming from someone who doesn’t help at all parent our children or allow me any time off. He held back maintenance payments which would sometimes make me late with important payments just so he could cause me additional stress and worries. I wasn’t going to be beaten by his abuse and I kept going.

The additional support from my lovely tutor Jo who kept telling me to keep going, you’re doing great, you CAN do this, is something I will never forget, nor do I think she realises how much that meant to me to hear. Her level of communication was impressive and I knew she believed in me all the way through. During my study time I’ve had to have gaps as my father was diagnosed with Cancer and my mum required family help and support, so I prioritised what was needed. I experienced some financial difficulties and almost lost my home in the process, but I kept going and stayed positive and worked harder and achieved the end goal to secure my home. When you go through tough times it takes a toll on your mental state of mind and it blocks you from taking in new information especially whilst you’re studying. I had to learn new techniques to combat the blocks and clear space to retain information and complete assessments. I’ve grown so much as a person, and even though I’ve faced difficult times I’ve always tried to find teachable moments which provided me with extra strength. I hope that other students can see that you can achieve anything you want, barriers can become strength and if you want something bad enough like I did …. You CAN achieve anything.

I honestly would never have imagined that I would get full distinctions or even have made it this far and I’m so glad - Prudence Patrick

Moving to a new country was a big deal for me and I certainly did not want to just start university with no clue whatsoever about anything. I wanted to get into university but did not know the route to take, and I also could not start a foundation degree at university because moving to a new country, it was basically my life starting afresh with a lot already going on and it costed a lot. A family friend of mine recommended DistanceLearningCenter.com to me and I was very skeptical about it because it wasn’t something I had heard of or was familiar with.

As I did my research what first caught my attention was the range of courses, flexibility, its affordability and the break down of cost. During this course not only has my confidence in independent learning and interaction with people improved drastically, but my time management skills as well, with the help of my tutors and the structure of the course. I was able to plan my self accordingly and as a result, complete moderation on time. My attention to detail which is very important in essays and even school work as a whole also continued to improve with the help of the detailed feedback and constant guidance from my tutors. The flexibility of this course suited working full time, and helped me to adapt to a whole new way of living in a new part of the world.

I honestly would never have imagined that I would get full distinctions or even have made it this far and I’m so glad; I thank God, my parents, and tutors for making this possible for me because not only am I going to my dream university to begin this new phase of my life, but I am also going as an individual who has adapted to the system of learning here and improved generally as a person. This course is perfect for someone with a lot of responsibilities who also isn’t sure about what to do concerning higher education because DistanceLearningCenter.com gives guidance from start to finish, suiting any lifestyle, and the best part is that it can also be done in any part of the world!

Image of Rusal Thapa

I reached at the point of my life that I wanted to pursue more education, study and enhance myself academically. Finding DistanceLearningCentre.com was my first step of the learning ladder and this has been one of the best decisions of my life. At first, I was very nervous to think how would I be able to learn online, understand study topics, and get all the help whilst working full time.

The first meeting with my tutor instantly made me feel at ease and provided clarity about the course. They were very informative and always there when I needed help. Replies to my emails were always swift and detailed. During the course I always felt that I have been looked after well.

My course was well organised, well explained to me and at the later part of my course, I was introduced to my biology tutor who has also been an amazing teacher and guide. Moreover, DistanceLearningCentre.com has amazing study technique tools, such as referencing guides, research tips, e-library, learning videos, detailed modules, etc, which students can use to help in achieving great results.

My tutors were also very understanding that I had a full-time job. They provided greater assistance whilst I was working full-time to help achieve my course submissions and in-depth understanding of the topics.

During the course, I almost gave up and did not want to continue due to the sudden loss of my mother. I just did not have the strength to carry on; however, my tutor was very understanding and supported and guided me to complete my course. My overall experience with the DistanceLearningCentre.com has been very valuable and I cannot express in words all the gratitude. My tutors and the team have been amazing, supporting me to pass my course with flying colours.

I was very nervous about beginning my studies as I thought that Access to HE Diplomas were aimed at mature students, being 17 at the time of beginning my studies. But I was so wrong!

The Diploma is for anyone wanting to enter higher education. The staff, and my tutors especially, couldn't have been more accommodating and supportive. Beth

Victoria

Sean

The materials were easy to follow. I received advice from others via the Facebook page & from my personal tutor, who was always so quick to answer any questions. During the modules, I developed my research methods & even my English improved. I am far more confident in finding the pros & cons of every theory. I now feel I am in a far better position & I am currently enrolled on an LLB Qualifying Law degree. Sean

Fanny

They stood out for me because of their flexibility and affordability.

Enrolling to study remotely for a science course, was overwhelmingly nerve-wracking but my tutors were very kind, supportive and helpful. Their support allowed me to excel and achieve high grades. I have now secured a place at a university. Fanny
